Harold Perl

Dr. Harold Perl joined the Center for the Clinical Trials Network (CCTN) at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in 2005 to serve as Senior Lead for Behavioral Research, Dissemination and Training. The CCTN oversees the operation of NIDA’s National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network. For the previous sixteen years, he held various positions at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), culminating as Chief of the Health Services Research Branch, with responsibility for developing and managing programs that focused on alcohol treatment research, health services research, and the dissemination and implementation of science-based substance abuse treatment practices. Prior to that, Dr. Perl served as Program Director for the Prevention Research Center in the Department of Mental Hygiene at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. He has provided technical assistance and training in grant development in dozens of individual, small workshop, and national conference formats. Dr. Perl is also a clinical psychologist in private mental health practice and has been named as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 50 - Addictions).
